COMPOSED MATTER at 3daysofdesign

A quiet exploration of material, light and space

COMPOSED matter, an exhibition curated by Norm Architects, brought together SUMUM, Søuld and MOTARASU. The exhibition explored a shared interest in materiality, tactility and atmosphere. Three distinct brands, each with its own heritage, craft and aesthetic language, came together in one carefully considered setting.

At the heart of the installation was a quiet belief: materials are never just functional. They carry texture, depth and emotion. They influence how a space is perceived, how light moves through it and how details become part of the architecture.

Designed as part of a larger story

For SUMUM, COMPOSED MATTER was an opportunity to show architectural hardware in the context it belongs to: not as an isolated object, but as a detail within a complete spatial experience.

Alongside the natural acoustic materials of Søuld and the sculptural lighting of MOTARASU, our switches and finishes became part of a layered environment where light, surface and material were constantly in dialogue.

The installation reflected what continues to guide our work: creating details that do not interrupt a space, but quietly belong to it.

A moment of reflection

3daysofdesign created an opportunity to connect with architects, designers and visitors from around the world. A moment to share ideas, exchange perspectives and explore how small, carefully considered details can influence the way a space is experienced.

We are grateful to Norm Architects, Søuld and MOTARASU for the shared dialogue, and to everyone who visited COMPOSED MATTER in Copenhagen.

More to come

For SUMUM, COMPOSED MATTER marks an important step in an ongoing collaboration with Norm Architects.

What was shown in Copenhagen is only the beginning of something new. A quiet detail, carefully considered, will continue to take shape in the months ahead.
