Atelier Tourain x Sumum

In 2025, Atelier Tourain marks a decade of material exploration and design evolution. What began as an experimental journey for Tanguy Tourain —melding metals through trial and error—has grown into a bold new direction: handcrafted cast tiles that seamlessly blend texture, artistry, and function.

A pivotal moment came with the decision to reimagine brass casting . Using leftover scraps from window and door projects, Tanguy developed a unique process to create tactile, organically textured tiles. The concept caught the attention of Benoit Viaene, who incorporated them into a project, solidifying their place in contemporary design.

Harmonic balance between raw materials and high-quality craftsmanship

Now, through a collaboration with Sumum, this innovation reaches new heights. Switches and outlets are seamlessly integrated into the cast tiles, creating a striking dialogue between material and function. The result is a collection where industrial ingenuity meets timeless craftsmanship.

Atelier Tourain × Sumum embodies the spirit of exploration—proving that the most unexpected ideas can shape the future of design.
